New Blocks for fortresscraft

These are of course not confirmed to be in the game in any way. Think of it as a could potentially, maybe, kinda, sort of, type of thing and you get the picture.

Fortresscraft texture preview

Fortresscraft...I'm Just Sayin'!

It would be hard to write this article, with out expecting the OMG Minecraft rip off comments, so...First things first, lets talk about it. Already the differences have been pointed out between the 2 games by the creator dj arcas, as well as the community of Fortresscraft fans...Similarities, all games have them. Players that check the XBLMP, will know that the real copy cats here are those guys over at the Total Miner Team. Anyway the best way to look at is like this. In the beginning there was Atari pong, since then, ping pong type games are everywhere...maybe not the best example but also if you look at one of the biggest game genres...The FPS, over and over again has this formula been replicated, the same world locations, the same weapons, the same multiplayer game types, and most with similar stories. After all, war, in the computer game scene is hot property. So I propose, what really should be seen as the obvious. Look at Fortresscraft and games alike, as a new..well...revamped genre of games filed nicely under, lets say, the "Crafting genre?"

Good all cleared up.
I can consider myself a Fortresscraft fan. at first it was about just messing about with blocks, this quickly turned into a bigger project with a friend joining the team to create, what is now becoming a small little city. For us it is a place almost acting like an extension of the Party chat function on XBL, and after a while, once the buildings start coming together, its becomes a variation of playstation home, with out the need to shell out cash for little extras. For us it is mainly a place to chat while building. Its easy going and chilled out.
Joining other peoples worlds is another cool way to get ideas for your world, although, a big majority of them all follow the same structure of either massive pixel art structures or medieval fantasy worlds. We have gone with the futuristic city approach, which I will show more of when it has developed a bit more. (you will be amazed I guarantee)

I thought also, this blog post would be a good place to give some of my ideas for what I would like to see in future updates so here is the list with a little explanation.

Option to remove the pick axe from the 3rd person view. (removes it from the other avatars also)
Self explanatory, I think. basically for things like machinima, an option so it looks like your avatar is holding nothing.

Expansion of  Freeze tag.
Its a cool little game. in our world, we have a freeze tag arena. A nice idea would be something like paintball. My idea would be to include an extra block called the paintball spawn block, when you are hit by a paintball you spawn back to one of the placed, paintball spawn blocks, each player has a set amount of spawns (lives) those who loose all there lives, revert back to the first spawn of the world. The winner...The last one standing.

Different avatar animations in 3rd person
Mainly to do with a variation of being on the ground walking and in the air flying. it would be nice to see the avatar in a more convincing flying movement. Perhaps angling the avatar forward and disabling the movement from the feet.

Exchange custom items with players
At the time of this article custom blocks are not out for official release. What I would like to see is a way of exchanging custom blocks with players. If say I build an amazing looking....chair? and my friend wanted to use it in his world I could send a copy of it to him.

More use of the L and R triggers
At present the L and R triggers are only used in conjunction (big word) with the D-pad, what would be cool would be to use them to quick build. holding down the L trigger would allow you to select more than 1 square and  then move to select more squares on the X,Y  axis, and the R trigger would when pressed would go 1 block up the Z axis. Once you selected the area LB would delete the selected area and RB would fill the area with the texture shown on the block wheel.

A way to give players instructions
People that spend a lot of time making a world put down lights to create certain atmosphere, so it would be great if you could let people know what light settings in machinima work best in the world or a way of setting conditions for all players that enter your world.

Different coloured lights
Contrary to the last idea, the ability to put down different coloured lights would be a good way to create different atmospheres in different places.

A wider variety of canvas colours
Need I explain?

Remember you can post your ideas on the Fortresscraft forum

Putting The Womb Raider in Tomb Raider

Swan diving off cliffs and blasting tigers to death are just a few of my childhood memory's. I am of course, talking about Tomb Raider. Sitting along side Final Fantasy VII and Tekken. Lara Croft managed to find a spot At the time, Tomb Raider, was Thee Action, Adventure game you needed. Puzzles, caves combined with monkeys and velociraptors, seemed to fit in nicely with Lara's, duel wielding pistols.

BATTLEFIELD 3 HI-RES WALLPAPERS

Check out these stunning Hi-Res screens of Battlefield 3. Real life looks boring in comparison

Battlefield 3 GAME OF THE YEAR PLEASE!

ZOMG and that is putting it lightly.
Initially, the teaser trailers of Battlefield 3, got our mouths salivating uncontrollably, here at the games wiki. So when E3 came, we had high hopes for what DICE had in store for us and they sure as hell delivered.
A first look at the multiplayer footage, Operation Metro, shows chaotic urban warfare in the heart of Frances capital Paris and just to clarify that is not FRANC3 (a lame joke I know)
Frostbite 2, quite frankly should be the envy of  game engines right now. No doubt fans have seen the game play trailers so far and are just counting down the days until that beta arrives.
So what do we know so far about Battlefield 3 Check out the compact list.

Will MW3 Be This Years Winner?

While some people may pause at the thought of this articles title and presume it's a rhetorical question, it is asked with a (this is my serious face) serious tone.
Sales wise Infinity ward knows how to rake in the cash. Modern Warfare 1 and 2 are some of the highest grossing games in games history. Modern Warfare 2 sold approximately 4.7 million units in both the United States and the UK in the first 24 hours of its release.
